BIO

Ortega (aka Boomtz Boom) is a Brazilian DJ and producer based in Dublin, Ireland, since 2018. Born in Taboão da Serra, São Paulo, Brazil, he crafts groove-driven electronic music rooted in Electro, House, Techno, and Acid, infused with Latin, Jazz, Funk, and Disco influences. His connection to dance music began early, evolving into a DJ career in 2006 before expanding into music production in 2016.

A respected figure within São Paulo's underground scene and a member of the Smile Collective, Ortega has developed a sound defined by rhythmic depth, cultural fusion, and club-focused energy.

Since 2016, Ortega has steadily built a catalog of original releases marked by authenticity and a distinctive sonic identity. Alongside the 2017 collaborative album Diggin' For Beats Batuque with beat maker Rasec, his body of work reflects a consistent commitment to groove-driven, forward-thinking electronic music. In 2024, he stepped into a curatorial role with Canario Records, further expanding his contribution to the scene.

Under his Boomtz Boom alias, Ortega explores a rawer, more experimental edge through independent Bandcamp releases, continuing to push his sonic identity forward.

Music Production

An exclusive live set for the Irish electronic music digital magazine Four Four, featuring original compositions written, produced, mixed, and mastered by me. Created using Ableton Live, a Roland TR-8S, Roland JD-08, Behringer TD-3, and an Akai MPK MIDI controller, the set explores the intersection of Electro, House, and Techno.

Ortega Rodrigues continues the sonic journey of Boomtz Boom, exploring a fusion of futuristic electro, techno, house, and acid. The project draws direct influence from São Paulo’s underground scene combined with the nocturnal energy of Dublin, creating a hybrid identity that sits between the urban and the experimental.

Released on the South Korean label Over Current, Liks Susy Dance is a two-track EP showcasing my approach to contemporary electronic music. Using Ableton Live alongside a selection of hardware synthesizers and drum machines. Blending elements of Electro, Acid, and Techno, the EP explores driving rhythms, textured synth work, and analogue-inspired grooves, reflecting my signature sound and production style.
